Neurodiversity
at work
In the UK, 17.5% of adults have a disability—a significant portion of the population whose talents, perspectives, and needs are often overlooked in the workplace.
Our Neurodiversity at Work campaign tackles this by showcasing the benefits of creating an inclusive work environment where neurodiverse and disabled individuals can thrive.
We place diversity and inclusion at the core of everything we do. It’s not just a value, it’s part of our DNA. We understand the power of embracing diversity and how it can drive innovation and creativity.
As part of our Neurodiversity at Work campaign, we’ve continued our long-running partnership with Mind and have begun working closely with Lighthouse Futures Trust – a charity dedicated to supporting people with neurodiversities and learning disabilities.
"The joint efforts between WorkPlace Leeds and Mednet, have empowered people to rebuild their careers, offering practical experience and a pathway to lasting success. Together, we’re transforming lives, and careers, for the better."
- Ethan Foster, Service Lead WorkPlace Leeds, Leeds Mind
Through referrals from both charities, we’re able to help neurodiverse individuals and those with long-term mental health conditions back into work. We provide work experience days, mentoring and even opportunities leading to further employment.
Francis joined the Mednet team in 2024 through a referral from Mind. He’d previously worked in admin but was experiencing a period of unemployment after struggling with his mental health.
We were able to offer Franics a part-time admin role in our Leeds office, providing Francis with the tools and confidence he needed to find further employment opportunities.
Working at Mednet, Francis had the support he hadn’t had from previous employers and was able to develop his existing skills in an inclusive environment. Having the support of the team around him also helped build Francis’s confidence after some time away from the workforce.
With our help and support, Francis has managed to find further full-time employment.
As part of our aim to create a more inclusive and diverse team, we’ve recently achieved Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) status. This is a meaningful and proactive way to showcase our readiness to break down employment barriers for individuals with disabilities and neurodiverse conditions.
We believe we have both a responsibility and an opportunity to embrace diversity and inclusion. By doing so, we're able to unlock the potential of talented individuals and better meet the needs of clients and patients.
